AWA workshops are designed for craft development and self discovery.
With carefully selected prompts and guided writing exercises we invite fresh stories to unfold and true voices to emerge. In every session writers have the opportunity to discover which aspects of their stories and voices resonate most with others by sharing their work with fellow participants and inviting positive, thoughtful feedback.
Underpinning the Amherst Writers methodology is the belief that everyone is creative, and there is no right or wrong in creative expression. The AWA method creates a safe space and process for your authentic voice to find expression. Writing in groups can enhance emotional wellness, and the AWA method is particularly helpful to people who are working through isolating difficulties like rupture, loss and illness. It honours both the privacy and process of every writer -- to nurture and support in an unthreatening atmosphere of mutual respect.
